Despite the manga and cartoons series’ long-standing record, with over 60 million copies of the original comics sold, Phantom Rouge is Hunter X Hunter’s first feature-length cartoon film.
Although the film's tale will be an unique tale, Hunter X Hunter sequence designer Yoshihiro Togashi has mentioned his tendency to create write the script.
Details of the film's tale presently are limited. All that is been exposed is that the tale has something to do with Kurapika Kuruta (whose sight convert scarlet red when he gets excited), as well as the Phantom Brigade Genei Ryodan.
Hence the subtitle “Phantom Rouge” or “Hiiro no Genei”.
